Book Al:  Al Jacobs

Al Jacobs

This year marks my 50th year as a professional musician and this CD shows the various styles of music I played and wrote during these 5 decades.  In the 50’s I was a teenager and wrote two rhythm & blues ballads,  “Without You” and “I’ve Waited So Long”.  The three non-originals, “Where Did You Stay”, “I’m Wise” and “Who Knows” were also R & B tunes from the 50’s.  In the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, I lived and toured in cities such as Denver, L.A., Houston, Omaha and Nashville.  During my first year on the road in the late 60’s I was homesick for south Louisiana and wrote the title cut, “Back To The Bayou” and also “Funky In The Country”.  In the 70’s my musical style switched to light rock and jazz rock and I wrote “Love Is The Road” and “Coastin’ ”.  In the 80’s I had a part in writing and arranging two crossover country songs, “One More Time” and “Rain Keeps Fallin’.”  In the 90’s I moved (as the song says) back to the bayou and wrote “That 50’s Feeling” and helped to write “You Need Love”, two songs that fall into the Swamp Pop category.  I also did a second version of “You Need Love” with a bluesy feel to it.

During my career I was with approximately 20 bands (too many to list here).

I would like to express my love and thanks to all who supported me through the years (also too many to list), my family, friends, fellow musicians and most of all, thanks be to God.
